When you arrived at a new place and gotten lost do you call a friend for help or ask some stranger next to you? I think, instead of asking a friend, a stranger next to us may be more of a help, because they can explain it face to face, to communicate in person.

Alright, let’s go back to dialogue. The general idea is that Wang wants to go to the department store at the city center, but he doesn’t know how to get there so he asks for directions with pedestrian. Let’s learn the vocabularies of this dialogue now.
对话一开始王华说：打扰一下。这句话的意思是：”Excuse me” 。 “打扰” 的意思是 “to bother”, “下” 在这里表示动作的量词，一般用于时间很短的动作。“一下” 是一个固定用法，表示动作时间很短，或表示尝试。比如说：看一下 / 读一下 / 等一下。
At the beginning, Wang says: 打扰一下。This sentence means: Excuse me. “打扰” means “to bother”. “下” is a measure word of actions here, usually used for action only lasts for a short time. “一下” is an expression which shows that an action lasts for a very short time or try to do something. For example: have a look / read it / wait for a moment.
接着王华就问到 ：请问市中心的百货大楼怎么走？整句的意思就是： How can I get to the department store at the city center? “市中心” 这个词我们在上一课学习过，意思是 “the center of the city”. “百货大楼” 的意思是 “department store” 。 我们之前学过一个句子结构， 就是 “地点 + 怎么去”， 用于询问去某个地方的方法，“怎么走” 与 “怎么去” 的用法以及意思几乎一样。 以后大家需要问路时就可以用这个句式：地点 + 怎么去 / 怎么走。
And then Wang asks: 请问市中心的百货大楼怎么走？The meaning for the whole sentence is : How can I get to the department store at the city center? The word “市中心” we have learnt in our lesson, means “the center of the city”. “百货大楼” means “department store”. We learned a sentence structure before, which is “地点 + 怎么去”, used to ask the way to get someplace. “怎么走” and “怎么去” has a very similar meaning and usage. If you want to ask for direction in the future you can use this sentence: “地点 + 怎么去 / 怎么走”
听到王华要去市中心，这位女士就说了：这里离市中心比较远，意思是：The city center is far away from here。 “离 + 地方 + 远” 是一个固定句式，意思是：far away from some place。 “远” 的意思是 “far”, 它的反义词是 “近”。 “比较”的意思是 “comparatively”, 是一个程度副词，可以用来修饰名词。
Hearing Wang wanting to go to the city center, this lady says: 这里离市中心比较远，means: the city center is far away from here. “离 + 地方 + 远“ is an expression which means : far away from some place. “远” means “far”, the antonym of it is “近”. “比较” means “comparatively”, is a degree adverbs, can be used to modify noun.
接着这位女士告诉了王华去市中心的路线：你需要坐公交车或者骑自行车，意思是：you need to take bus or ride bike。 “需要” 这个词我们在前面的课文中学习过, 意思是 “need”。 “或者” 的意思是 “or”, 在之前我们学过一个跟它意思很相近的词 “还是”， 他们的意思都是 “or”, 但是 “还是” 是用在疑问句中， “或者” 用在陈述句中。 大家记住他们的区别了吗？
Then this lady tells Wang the way to get to the city center: 你需要坐公交车或者骑自行车， means you need to take bus or ride bike. We learned the word “需要” in last lesson, means “need”. “或者” means “or”, we learned a word “还是” which has a very similar meaning with it. They both mean“or”, but “还是”is used in an interrogative sentence, “或者” is used in a statement. Do you remember the difference between them?
女士还非常好心地告诉王华要先坐224路公交车。“先” 的意思是 “first”， 一般与连词 “然后” 相呼应，表示动作在时间上的先后顺序。“224路” 是公交车的线路，用多个数字表示年代，车牌，房间、电话等号码时，常直接读出数字，比如：我的电话是68667531。我的房间号是1202。 “公交车” 是 “bus”, 大家可能还知道 “bus” 的另外一种英文表达，就是 “公共汽车”。
The lady also kindly tells Wang that he needs to take the bus No.224. “先” means “first”, usually used with the conjunction “然后”, to indicate the succession of two actions within time period. “224路” is the bus routine. Serial numbers, such as the name of a year or the number of vehicles, room or telephone are read out figure by figure. For example: My phone number is 68667531。 My room number is 1202. “公交车“ is “bus”，you may also know the other expression of “bus“ which is “公共汽车”。
但是因为市中心比较远所以除了要坐公共汽车还需要走路，女士说：沿着马路一直向前走。意思是：Go straight along the road。 “沿着” 的意思是 “along”, “沿着 + 地方 + 走” 是一个比较常用的句型，意思是 “go along somewhere”。 “一直” 这个词语如果单独使用有 “always” 的意思，在这个句子里和 “走” 搭配使用， 意思是 “go straight”。 “向” 的意思是 “towards”, 可以跟不同的方向词组合使用，比如：向左走、向右走、向前走。
But because the city center is a little bit far so except taking bus he also needs to walk. The lady says: 沿着马路一直向前走, which means：Go straight along the road. “沿着” means “along”, “沿着+地方+走” is a quite common sentence structure, means” go along somewhere”. “一直” has the meaning of “always” if used alone. In this sentence it used together with “走“， means “go straight”. “向” means “towards”, can be used together with different directions, for example: go left、go right、go forward.
女士接着说：在第一个路口向左转，就到了。这句话的意思是：turn left at the first crossing, and you are there。
Then the lady says: 在第一个路口向左转，就到了。Which means：turn left at the first crossing, and you are there. This sentence is short but the words in it are quite common used and also important. “第” is an ordinal, putting before a number can act as ordinal number, for example: first, second, third. “转” means “turn”. The phrase we just learned “向左走” means “go left” and here “向左转” means “turn left”, the meaning are quite similar. “就” can be put before a verb to indicate the action is fast. The word “到” after it means“arrive”. The word “到” will be used quite often and it has more than one usage. We will learn more in our future lessons.
对话的最后王华对女士表示了感谢，女士回复说：不客气。在别人对我们表示感谢时，除了 “不用谢”，我们还可以说 “不客气”。
In the end of the dialogue, Wang says thanks to the lady and the lady replies: 不客气。When someone expresses their thanks to you , except saying: 不用谢，we can also say “不客气“.
